When news becomes advertising

This weekend I read an article in the Weekend Journal section of the Asia Wall Street Journal. A short article about men's skin care during cold weather, focusing on the personal skin care regiment of the founder and president of (you guessed it) a men's skin care product company. I read the article with interest in the hopes of learning some new insight into skin care. Instead, it was a subtle but obvious promotion of his own products. It's probably not a bad thing if more men learn to care for their skin but it reminded me of something Dan Rather said... "News is what somebody somewhere doesn't want you to know. All the rest is advertising.".
